Lunch Brisbane CBD: Head Down the Lane
The best city lunches have one thing in common: they give you a proper break from the day.
For lunch Brisbane CBD, Miss Demeanour offers exactly that. Tucked underground in Rowes Lane, Miss D is far enough from the main drag to feel like a find, but close enough for an easy weekday lunch, a long catch-up or a meal before the rest of the day gets away from you.
We’re open from 11am until late, seven days a week, with burgers, shares, mains, salads, craft beer and cocktails ready when you are.
Brisbane CBD Lunch Without the Food Court Feeling
There’s nothing wrong with a quick sandwich. There’s also nothing particularly memorable about one.
A Brisbane CBD lunch at Miss D feels different from the moment you step into Rowes Lane. The underground setting, low lighting and relaxed atmosphere give you a genuine change of pace from the office, shops and city streets above.
Come in with a few colleagues, meet a mate or take a table for one. You can keep lunch simple, order a few dishes for the table or settle in properly when the afternoon calendar allows it.
Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations are available when you’d rather know your table is sorted.
Burgers Worth Leaving the Office For
The burger section is built for days when lunch needs to do more than fill a gap.
The Classic Cheese Burger starts with a house-made Wagyu beef patty, American cheese, onion, pickles, mustard and tomato sauce. Straightforward. No unnecessary distractions.
The Pulled Beef Burger adds 14-hour BBQ-braised beef, maple bacon, melted mozzarella, leafy greens, BBQ sauce and aioli. For something with a bit more crunch, the Southern Fried Chicken Burger brings together free-range chicken breast, cos lettuce, tomato, Manchego cheese and chipotle mayo.
Then there’s The Big D: Wagyu beef, spiced tempura chicken, a jalapeño popper, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño aioli and tomato relish. It’s not a subtle lunch. That’s the point.
Vegetarian and vegan diners aren’t left with an afterthought, either. The Flash Fried Haloumi Burger and Spiced Chickpea Patty both earn their place on the menu.
Share Plates for a Longer Lunch
The best lunch Brisbane CBD options should work for more than one kind of day.
If you’re catching up with a group, start with a few shares. The Chicken Wings come as five full wings with a choice of Chipotle BBQ, house hot sauce or teriyaki, plus blue cheese, ranch or aioli for dipping.
There are also Bolognese arancini with mortadella and mozzarella, mozzarella-filled jalapeño poppers, smoked pork hock croquettes and tempura spiced cauliflower with your choice of sauces.
The 14-hour Pulled Beef Loaded Fries tend to settle the “should we order one more thing?” discussion fairly quickly. They arrive with maple bacon, shoestring fries, melted mozzarella, chives and hickory BBQ sauce.
A few plates in the middle, a drink each and nowhere urgent to be for an hour. That’s lunch handled.
Proper Mains for a Proper Break
Some days call for a full meal.
The Steak Frites comes with a 300g Black Angus steak, chimichurri, fries and gravy. The Chicken Schnitzel arrives with fries, gravy and salad, with the option to turn it into a parmi with ham, Napoli sauce and mozzarella.
You’ll also find slow-braised Lamb Shank with creamy mash, Beef Cheek Rigatoni Ragu, BBQ Pork Ribs, Fish and Chips and Grilled Barramundi with couscous, greens and a white wine sauce.
For something lighter, the salad menu includes Thai Beef, Chicken Caesar, Mediterranean Couscous and Roasted Sweet Potato and Pumpkin Salad.
Lunch in Brisbane CBD
Miss D is a lunch spot, but it doesn’t stop being useful when the plates are cleared.
The bar serves local craft beer, wine and house cocktails, so a late lunch can easily become after-work drinks. On Mondays, Open Mic Night starts from 6pm, while Saturdays bring live musicians from 6pm.
That’s the nice thing about a venue open from 11am until late. You don’t need to decide exactly what kind of day it’s going to be before you arrive.
For your next lunch Brisbane CBD catch-up, book a table at Miss Demeanour and head down Rowes Lane. We’ll take care of the food. You can decide whether you’re heading straight back to work.
